The SAP FICO course at IPA is a 2-month programme with 30 hours of classroom training on SAP FI and CO, offered in weekday, weekend and fast-track batches, with live online training as well. It is run by IPA – Institute of Professional Accountants, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi (since 2003). It is one of the 15 courses at IPA’s campus at E-54, Metro Pillar No. 44, and it is meant for people who already know accounting; SAP FICO is also part of IPA’s 15-month and 18-month diplomas. IPA’s teaching team is its trainers, Chartered Accountants among them, plus CA and MBA faculty for specialised sessions. SAP FICO is the finance side of SAP’s ERP software, whose current version is SAP S/4HANA. FI (Financial Accounting) records transactions in the general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed assets and bank accounts. CO (Controlling) tracks internal costs and profitability through cost centres, profit centres and internal orders.
It solves a jump that Tally users face when they apply to larger companies. Many mid-size and large organisations run SAP, and they want accounts staff who understand how a posting in FI flows through to the cost and profit reports in CO.
IPA’s course certificate vs SAP’s own certification
SAP runs its own certification exams through SAP Learning, such as the SAP Certified Associate credential in SAP S/4HANA Financial Accounting. Those exams are taken with SAP, and SAP says candidates need a Learning Hub subscription that includes exam attempts. IPA’s course gives you a training certificate from IPA, which is not the same thing as SAP’s credential.
Many learners use a course like this to build working knowledge first, then decide whether SAP’s exam is worth it for the roles they are targeting.
SAP FICO course eligibility: who can join?
- B.Com, BBA and M.Com graduates who already know accounting and want roles in larger companies.
- CA, CMA and MBA (finance) students who want ERP exposure to go with their theory.
- Working accountants whose company is moving to SAP, or who want to move to one that uses it.
- 12th-pass beginners can join, but SAP makes far more sense once you understand journal entries, ledgers and financial statements.
Who should start somewhere else
If you do not yet know basic accounting, start with the Tally course or a diploma, then add SAP. And if you expect an SAP consultant title straight after a 2-month course, reset that expectation: consultant roles generally ask for project experience, so treat this course as a start at end-user and support level.

- Find your way around SAP and understand how company codes, the chart of accounts and fiscal year settings fit together.
- Post general ledger entries, vendor invoices and payments, and customer invoices and receipts.
- Record asset purchases, run depreciation and handle bank accounting.
- Carry out month-end closing steps and pull financial reports.
- Use CO to read cost centre reports, settle internal orders and analyse profit centres and profitability.

How IPA teaches SAP FICO
The 30 classroom hours are spent on SAP screens, working through business scenarios module by module: you post a transaction in FI, then see where it appears in CO. Batches are small, so there is time for the questions SAP always raises. Weekday, weekend and fast-track batches are available, and live online training suits working professionals. The course is taught by Ms. Aditi (MBA), and practice on SAP is guided by your instructor.

SAP course charges vary between institutes because “SAP course” can mean very different things. Before you compare SAP FICO course fees, check what each quote actually covers:
- Duration and depth. A 30-hour course for end users and a long consultant-track programme with system configuration are different products. Compare hours and the syllabus, not just the course name.
- Mode. Classroom, live online and recorded-only courses differ in how much time you get with a trainer and how quickly doubts are cleared.
- Certification. An institute’s training certificate is not SAP’s own certification. SAP’s exams are taken through SAP Learning with a Learning Hub subscription that includes exam attempts, so check whether that cost is part of a quote or left to you.
- Guided practice. Check who guides your work on the SAP system. At IPA, practice is guided by your instructor.
- Modules covered. FI only, FI and CO together, or FICO with S/4HANA topics.

IPA’s classroom batches meet at E-54, 3rd Floor, Block E, Laxmi Nagar, beside Metro Pillar No. 44 on Vikas Marg. Pay in SAP finance depends on whether you use SAP or configure it. After a 2-month course, most people start as end users: accounts executive in an SAP environment, accounts payable or receivable executive, or junior cost or finance analyst. Published figures show the gap:
