The GST course in Delhi at IPA is a 2-month practical programme on the GST portal, covering registration, invoicing, input tax credit, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B filing, challans and notices, in the classroom or online. It is run by IPA – Institute of Professional Accountants, Laxmi Nagar (since 2003). IPA teaches 15 courses from one campus, E-54 at Metro Pillar No. 44, and GST is also taught inside its accounting diplomas. On this course GST and Tally are taught by Ms. Shikha (MBA, 10 years of experience), within IPA’s team of trainers, with CA and MBA faculty for specialised sessions. The short course carries placement assistance. IPA is rated 4.6 out of 5 from 313 reviews on its Google Business Profile (checked 28 September 2026).
A GST course trains you to handle a business’s Goods and Services Tax compliance from start to finish: registration, tax invoices, input tax credit, monthly returns, tax payment and replies to basic notices.
The problem it solves is practical. Knowing what GST is takes an afternoon. Matching purchase invoices with GSTR-2B, claiming only eligible credit and filing on time every month is the work that employers and clients pay for, and it is what this course drills.
Who is the GST course for?
The course is for people who can already read an invoice and a ledger and want to own GST compliance. It suits 12th-pass students, commerce preferred, who want a tax skill they can use alongside college, and B.Com graduates aiming for GST executive or tax assistant roles in CA firms and company accounts teams. It suits accountants who already use Tally and now want to own the filing side, not just the entries. Small business owners take it to file their own returns or check their consultant’s work, and weekend batches suit working people. GST work assumes basic accounting, so a student with no accounting background should start with the Tally course or a diploma instead. If you want income tax and GST together, the Diploma in Taxation covers both in one programme, as a 5-month diploma rather than a short course.
“GST course” vs enrolling as a GST Practitioner
“GST Practitioner” is also a legal status under the CGST Rules, and it is separate from any course certificate, including IPA’s. To enrol on the GST portal, you apply in Form GST PCT-01 and must meet Rule 83’s eligibility. Examples include a graduate or postgraduate degree in commerce, law, banking or business administration, or a CA, CS or CMA qualification. Rule 83 also requires enrolled practitioners to pass an examination, and Rule 83A assigns that examination to NACIN (the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics). IPA’s GST practitioner course prepares you for the work a GST practitioner does; it does not enrol you as one. A 12th-pass student can take the course and work in GST compliance, but needs an eligible qualification before applying for enrolment. A B.Com graduate already meets the degree condition, so the enrolment route for a graduate is the PCT-01 application followed by the NACIN examination.
What you can do after the GST course
After the course you should be able to run a business’s monthly GST cycle on the portal. You will register a business on the GST portal and file amendments to the registration. You will prepare tax invoices, including e-invoices where they apply, and treat reverse charge supplies correctly. You will reconcile the purchase register with GSTR-2B and separate eligible credit from blocked credit, then prepare and file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, work out the tax payable and generate the challan. You will also read a GST notice, gather the records it asks for and draft a basic reply for a CA to review. The course works with the current rate structure. After the GST Council’s 56th meeting on 3 September 2025, most goods and services moved to two main rates, 5% and 18%. A 40% special rate applies to a small set of goods, and the new rates took effect on 22 September 2025 (GST Council).
Notes and videos made before 22 September 2025 use the old four-slab structure, so check the date on anything you study from. Typical first roles are GST executive, tax assistant and accounts executive with GST duties. With experience, some people offer return filing to small businesses on their own. The checklist further down this page sets out what to expect from any practical GST filing course.
How does IPA teach GST?
IPA teaches GST by having you do the monthly cycle: invoices in, reconciliation, return, payment. Practice uses the GST portal and realistic business data, so the screens are familiar when you meet them at work. Batches are small and questions are encouraged, because GST mistakes usually come from a rule half-understood. Ms. Shikha (MBA, 10 years of teaching GST and Tally) takes the return-filing work, and IPA’s chartered accountant faculty, Mr. Mohit, Ms. Neena and Mr. Sanjeev, support the areas that need professional judgement, such as input tax credit restrictions, audit and notices. The order matters in practice: outward supplies go into GSTR-1, eligible credit is reconciled against GSTR-2B, and only then is GSTR-3B filed and the tax paid. The same practical sequence runs in the online batches, so a student joining from outside Delhi works through the same returns, challans and notices as a classroom student at Laxmi Nagar.
How to choose a GST filing course
Choose a GST return filing course on practical exposure first and distance second: a slightly longer commute to a better-run batch pays off. A job-ready course spends most of its time on doing, not definitions: recording GST transactions in Tally, preparing GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, reconciling input tax credit with GSTR-2B, paying tax with interest and late fees worked out, and replying to common mismatch notices. Online classes suit working people who already use Tally daily; classroom batches suit beginners, because a trainer can look at your screen and correct a wrong entry on the spot. Ask these questions of any institute, including IPA:
| Question to ask | What a good answer sounds like |
|---|---|
| Will I practise filing? | Yes, on practice data, for every return type in the syllabus |
| When was the syllabus last updated? | A specific month, with the September 2025 rate changes and the three-year bar on late returns included |
| Who teaches? | Named faculty with GST filing experience, not only teaching experience |
| How big is a batch? | Small enough that the trainer checks each student’s work |
| Is Tally included? | Yes, or the course expects you to know it already |
| What does placement support mean? | A clear written statement of what the support includes |
| What does the fee include? | A clear answer covering study material, the certificate and any instalments |
For how the returns themselves work, with due dates, see filing GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B.
GST course in Delhi: duration, batches and fees
The GST course at IPA lasts 2 months. You can attend GST classes in Delhi at the Laxmi Nagar centre or join online, and weekend batches are planned around working professionals. The centre is at E-54, near Metro Pillar 44 on Vikas Marg. It is also known as a GST practitioner course or a GST certification course; the content is the same practical programme, and you receive IPA’s course certificate at the end. That certificate is not enrolment as a statutory GST Practitioner, which is explained above.
GST course fees at IPA
The GST course lasts 2 months, so the fee depends mainly on the batch you pick, classroom or live online, and any offer running when you enquire. Ask what the quote covers: study material, practice on the GST portal, the IPA course certificate, placement assistance and whether you can pay in instalments.
When you compare GST course fees with another institute, check the total hours, whether returns, input tax credit and notices are done on the portal rather than only explained, and whether placement help is in the price or extra. Call or WhatsApp 9213855555 and the counsellor will give you the figure.
GST course online: live batches across India
You can do the GST course online from any city in India. IPA teaches it in live, instructor-led classes, so an online student follows the same practical sequence as the Laxmi Nagar batch: registration, tax invoices, input tax credit, GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, challans and replies to notices, each worked through on the GST portal.
- Same syllabus and trainers as the classroom, with questions answered live while the trainer files.
- Same IPA certificate when you complete the course.
- Live on Zoom in weekday or weekend batches, with flexible timings depending on your batch, with recorded lectures on IPA’s own LMS for revision and portal practice guided by your instructor.
- Built for people who already work: accounts staff and business owners outside Delhi can learn GST filing without travelling.
Online learners get placement support. Call or WhatsApp 9213855555 to book a free demo class and hear when the next online GST batch starts. For every subject IPA teaches this way, see the online accounting courses for learners across India.
GST jobs and salary
After the course, most people start as a GST executive, tax assistant or accounts executive with GST duties. No government body publishes GST salaries, so these are the closest published figures. Taxation roles in Delhi-NCR with 0 to 5 years’ experience show an average CTC of ₹5.23 lakh a year (Randstad India Salary Trends Report 2024-25). That reflects corporate hiring through a large recruiter, so a fresher at a small firm usually starts lower. Tax assistants in accounting and auditing firms report ₹2.9 lakh to ₹3.4 lakh a year (AmbitionBox, as of 24 September 2026). The legal floor in Delhi is ₹24,356 a month for a graduate clerical employee, under the Delhi Labour Department’s minimum wage order effective 1 April 2025. Your pay depends on the employer, the size of the client base you handle and how reliably you file on time. People who add income tax or TDS work alongside GST generally have more roles open to them.
GST course vs other IPA tax courses
Choose between the GST course and IPA’s other tax courses by how much you already know and how much time you have. It takes 2 months, covers GST only with portal practice, and carries placement assistance. It suits someone who already handles accounts and needs GST filing skills quickly. The Diploma in Taxation (DTL) takes 5 months and covers income tax and GST together. The BAT course takes 8 months and covers accounting, TallyPrime, BUSY, ITR, TDS and GST returns. Choose DTL or BAT if you want a broader base; choose the GST course if speed matters more and you already work in accounts. The table below sets the three side by side.
| Course | Duration | Focus | Placement |
|---|---|---|---|
| GST course (this page) | 2 months | GST only, with portal practice | Placement assistance |
| Diploma in Taxation (DTL) | 5 months | Income tax and GST together | Terms on that course page |
| BAT course | 8 months | Accounting, TallyPrime, BUSY, ITR, TDS and GST returns | Terms on that course page |
The GST course carries placement assistance: IPA supports your job search with resume guidance, interview practice and referrals to employers hiring for GST work. GST executive and tax assistant roles are found mainly in CA firms and company accounts teams, and a candidate who can show a clean GSTR-2B reconciliation and a correct GSTR-3B has something concrete to discuss in an interview.
