The data entry course at IPA in Delhi runs at four levels: basic (1 month), intermediate (3 months), advanced (6 months) and a 1-year diploma, online or offline. It trains typing speed with numeric accuracy, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, email and online forms, database basics and data security, at IPA – Institute of Professional Accountants, Laxmi Nagar (since 2003).
A data entry operator course is the shortest route from using a phone to being comfortable on an office computer. For many 10th and 12th pass students it is the first step before moving into accounts or back-office work.
What is a data entry operator course?
A data entry operator course trains you to type information into a computer quickly and without errors, and to keep that data organised and private. A data entry operator copies details from forms, bills, registers and scanned documents into spreadsheets, databases or company software, then checks the totals. The course therefore builds three things: typing speed with numeric and alphanumeric accuracy, working knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and careful handling of records. Employers often test the first two at interview, so the course is practice-heavy.
Who the data entry course is for
- 10th and 12th pass students who want an office job and need computer skills first.
- Graduates with weak computer skills who keep losing out at the typing or MS Office test in interviews.
- Job seekers and people returning to work after a break who want to rebuild confidence on a computer.
- Beginners who plan to learn Tally or Excel later and want the basics in place.
Who should choose differently
If you already type well and know MS Office, the Advanced Excel course is the next step up. If your goal is an accounts job, the Tally course in Delhi or an accounting diploma will get you there faster.
How many months is a data entry course?
At IPA, it lasts 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, depending on the level. The basic course is 1 month, intermediate 3 months, advanced 6 months and the diploma level 1 year. Classes run online or at the Laxmi Nagar centre; ask the counsellor which batch times are open when you plan to start.
Pick the shortest level that gets you to the typing speed and MS Office skills your target job asks for. A practical test: read five job ads you would apply for. If they ask only for typing and MS Office, a shorter level is usually enough. If they mention Excel reports or Tally, choose a longer level, or pair a short level with the Advanced Excel or Tally course.
Data entry course near me
In east Delhi, the course is taught at E-54, 3rd Floor, Metro Pillar No. 44, Laxmi Nagar, a short walk from Laxmi Nagar metro station on the Blue Line. The centre is open Monday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Shakarpur, Preet Vihar and Mayur Vihar are a short metro or road trip away, and learners elsewhere can join a live online batch.
Data entry course fees
The data entry fee depends on the level you need, from the one-month basic course up to the one-year diploma, on your batch, on classroom or live online, and on any offer running when you enquire. Ask what the quote covers: study material, the certificate, placement assistance and whether instalments suit you.
When you compare data entry course fees with another institute, check the typing practice hours, whether Word, Excel and online forms are included, and whether placement help is in the price or extra. Call or WhatsApp 9213855555 and say which level you want.
Data entry course syllabus
The data entry operator course syllabus has six modules. Their topics are listed at the top of this page; the table shows why each one matters to an employer.
| Module | What you practise | Why employers care |
|---|---|---|
| Basic computer skills | Fundamentals, the operating system and file management | You find and store files without asking for help |
| Typing and data entry | Speed drills, numeric and alphanumeric typing, formatting data | Speed and accuracy are what a typing test measures |
| MS Office | Word for documents, Excel for spreadsheets and calculations, PowerPoint | Most office data ends up in Word or Excel |
| Internet and email | Browsing, email and handling data online | Much entry work now happens in web portals and online forms |
| Data management | Database basics, sorting and organising records | Clean records save time for everyone who uses them next |
| Data security and ethics | Confidentiality, security risks and protection | Operators handle personal details such as phone numbers and addresses |
The module split between levels is not published; ask the counsellor what each level includes.
Data entry operator course: skills, software and the certificate
Data entry programs differ a lot from one institute to the next, so here is what IPA’s covers. Skills: typing speed with numeric and alphanumeric accuracy, formatting data, sorting and organising records, and keeping personal data confidential. Software: MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, plus email and online portals. Certificate: you receive an IPA course certificate when you finish your level, online or at Laxmi Nagar. Think of it as a certificate in data entry operator skills for that level. It is IPA’s own certificate for this course, so be ready to show your typing and Excel work at the interview as well.
What you can do after the course
- Type steadily with accuracy, including long runs of numbers such as invoice amounts, codes and phone numbers.
- Create and format letters, forms and reports in MS Word.
- Build, sort and filter spreadsheets in Excel and use simple formulas to total and check data, with an AI assistant to suggest a formula or tidy a list, checking what it gives you, since it isn’t always right.
- Make a clear presentation in PowerPoint.
- Handle email with attachments, fill online forms and work in web portals.
- Organise records in simple database tables and find information quickly.
- Follow basic data security practice: passwords, confidentiality and care with personal records.
Data entry operator salary and jobs
Typical first roles are data entry operator, computer operator, back-office assistant and records or MIS assistant. Published figures, as of September 2026:
| Where | Pay | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Private sector, New Delhi | ₹2.3 lakh to ₹2.6 lakh a year (typical) | AmbitionBox, 10,300 salaries, updated 24 Sep 2026 |
| Private sector, India | ₹2.3 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh a year (typical) | AmbitionBox, 74,400 salaries, updated 24 Sep 2026 |
| Central government DEO (SSC CHSL 2026) | Pay Level 4 (₹25,500 to ₹81,100 a month) or Level 5 (₹29,200 to ₹92,300), plus allowances | SSC notice, 7 Sep 2026 |
The SSC route needs 12th pass and a typing skill test: 8,000 key depressions an hour for most DEO posts. In Delhi, a matriculate clerical employee’s minimum wage is ₹22,411 a month (Labour Department order effective 1 April 2025). Actual pay depends on the employer, your speed and your accuracy.
After adding Tally, many people move on to billing or accounts roles; how billing staff become computer accountants explains that next step. When you apply, keep your CV short and specific, as in this resume format for freshers.
How IPA teaches it
Classes are practical: typing practice, real-world assignments and exercises built on the kind of data offices handle, such as customer lists, stock sheets and forms. Batches are small, so beginners are not left behind and can ask as often as they need. The spreadsheet work draws on IPA’s Excel and MIS faculty, led by Mr. Deepak (M.Com, more than 20 years of teaching Excel and MIS).
What makes the course different is how much is fixed and published before you pay. There are four levels with set durations and a six-module syllabus. Placement assistance is described plainly, and salary figures come with their sources and dates rather than promises.
Data entry course online: live batches across India
The course runs online as well, in live classes with an instructor that you can join from anywhere in India. The syllabus, the four levels and the trainers are the same as at the Laxmi Nagar centre, and online learners receive the same IPA course certificate. Typing practice suits online study: you build speed on your own keyboard, and the trainer can review your speed and accuracy in the live class. Classes are held live on Zoom in weekday or weekend batches, with flexible timings depending on your batch, and recorded lectures on IPA’s own LMS help between classes. You need a laptop or desktop with a physical keyboard, because typing on a phone does not build the skill employers test. Online learners get placement support, and a free demo class is available. To enrol, use the enquiry form on this page or WhatsApp 9213855555. The online accounting courses page explains IPA’s live-class format.
